TWO local computer companies have decided to pool their talents to provide an all-round service for computer users.

Andor Systems and Computer System Services Pty Ltd merged in November to form Andor Systems Services, a company which not only repairs and maintains computer systems but also upgrades and sells computers.

Managing director, Mr Colin McKay, said that the two companies had provided different services which complemented each other.

Computer System Services repaired and maintained computers, while Andor Systems concentrated on finding system solutions, integrating new and old systems and selling Hewlett and Packard, and Optima computers.

Mr McKay said he thought that the company was the only local one that repaired and maintained computer hardware as well as provided systems solutions, integrated new systems with existing ones and sold computers.

`It's a means of recognising the strength that both companies had,' he said. `Both companies had needs which could only be met by the other company.

He said that Andor had known of the Computer Systems for many years as both companies had started in the late 1970's when the microprocessor first became available.

The new company, which now employs 29 staff, will continue to operate in the two Griffiths Road premises but will shift to Andor when the expansion is completed later this year.
