AMERICANS call it the "God Phone" and thousands of the faithful lined up all night at mobile phone sellers across the globe to be among the first to buy it. Which might make one think that the iPhone is pretty special, except millions lined up to buy upgrades of the famously clunky Windows computer operating system. What is it about technology that people can't wait an extra day or two to get their hands on the stuff? Although, in fairness, most Australians have been forced to wait 18 months longer for this Apple gizmo than the rest of the world. And when the Yanks decided to call it the God Phone, did they know that Aussies traditionally talk to God on a larger device, the one in the smallest room in the house?
